In the spring, the flower will blanket the sunny hillsides throughout the Okanagan. The balsamroot is a large perennial flower, growing up to 80 cms with 15 cm wide flowers. A popular staple for wildlife, the entire flower can be eaten. Native Americans traditionally used the flower for both sustenance and medicinal purposes.
